Here is a tool for quick monitoring of interface speed:
http://gael.roualland.free.fr/ifstat/
This tool is capable to monitor remote machines if you have running SNMP daemon on them.
Let's say that you have server A wiht IP 10.0.0.1 and two other servers with IPs 10.0.0.2 (B) and 10.0.0.3 (C), and you want to monitor interface speed on B and C from server A.
on server A install ifstat:
Code: | cd /usr/local/src
wget 'http://gael.roualland.free.fr/ifstat/ifstat-1.1.tar.gz'
tar zxf ifstat-1.1.tar.gz
cd ifstat-1.1
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
cp ifstat /usr/local/bin/ |
Be sure that you've installed devel package of snmp (net-snmp-devel-x.x) and you have snmp daemon installed on servers B and C.
On server B and C add this to snmpd.conf
Code: | rocommunity public 10.0.0.1 |
To monitor traffic run:
Code: | #monitor server A:
ifstat
#monitor server B:
ifstat -s 10.0.0.2
#monitor eth1 on server C:
ifstat -s 10.0.0.R -i eth1
|
Download ifstat:
ifstat-1.1.tar.gz - Linux source
ifstat-1.1-win32.zip - Win32 binary
ifstat_1.1-1_i386.deb - Debian package |
